Bamboo: The Benefits and Facts
Bamboo Forest
Bamboo Forest

Bamboo fiber is a revolutionary new fabric that has unparalleled advantages, including strength, versatility and luxurious softness. Bamboo is thermodynamic, ensuring that you are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This exceptional fabric is anti-microbial, preventing bacteria from cultivating on it. The cross-section of bamboo fiber reveals various micro-gaps, allowing bamboo cloth to have superior moisture absorption. Better yet, bamboo naturally provides added protection against the sun’s harmful UV rays.

Bamboo is a sustainable resource that is biodegradable and can be grown without pesticides. It can be harvested with virtually no impact on the environment. Bamboo is more than renewable; some species grow 47 inches a day

Bamboo Facts
  • Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on this planet and can be harvested in 3-5 years versus 10-50 years for most softwoods and hardwoods.
  • It is the fastest growing canopy for the regreening of degraded areas and generates up to 35% more oxygen than equivalent stand of trees.
  • Bamboo has anti-bacterial properties which inhibit body odor. Bamboo clothes wick away moisture and have double the absorbency of cotton. When you wear a bamboo shirt, you stay dry, and your aromas are pulled away from your body and released into the air.
  • Bamboo is wood that is pulverized to separate the natural fibers when preparing for clothing. The resulting fabric is soft. Softer than cotton, and is often compared to the feel of silk/cashmere blend.
  • Bamboo clothing feels smooth and drapes well on the body.  Bamboo clothing is also similar to wool in that it stays two to three degrees cooler than cotton in hot weather and keeps you warmer than cotton in cooler weather.
  • Bamboo can be harvested and replenished with virtually no impact to the environment and is capable of regeneration without need to replant.
  • Bamboo helps reduce the carbon dioxide gases blamed for global warming.
  • Bamboo is a natural control barrier. Because of its wide spread root system and large canopy, bamboo greatly reduces rain run off, prevents massive soil erosion and keeps twice as much water in the watershed.
  • Bamboo also helps mitigate water pollution due to its high nitrogen consumption, making it the perfect solution for excess nutrient uptake of waste water from manufacturing, intensive livestock farming, and sewage treatment facilities.
